We’re pleased to announce today that Baltic Broadband has joined River City Networks (RCN) as its first connected digital connectivity network. RCN is a standardised wholesale access framework or common technology backbone for digital connectivity.

Armed with speeds up to 100Gbps, and a market place of multiple Broadband providers that boast instant switch-on, RCN’s neutral network connects up residential and commercial buildings to transform their digital connectivity offering.

The RCN concept is simple, bring one high speed dark fibre connection to a building, wire up all of the individual tenant units, then allow any provider on their network to offer various connectivity services.

Saving installation time and costs, a multitude of cables (throughout the landlord’s building) and wayleaves, RCN’s “dig once” strategy future proof’s the building for the next 20 years plus.

For Baltic Broadband, it will allow tenants in many buildings to use Baltic’s leased line products and other services and with zero installation and lead-times, making it a winner with both landlord and tenants.

As the first digital connectivity network to connect on RCN, we’re launching our services as a beta trial for a number of new customers throughout the rest of 2025.
