Acceptable Use Policy (AUP)
This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") defines the operational boundaries, security protocols, and fair-usage parameters governing all traffic, routing services, and hardware infrastructure supplied by Baltic Broadband Limited. As an enterprise network provider, these rules are explicitly designed to maintain the security, latency integrity, and operational availability of our broader UK-wide fiber optic and wireless transit rings.
⚠️ SLA INTEGRITY SAFEGUARD: The initiation of urgent network mitigation, packet filtering, or temporary circuit isolation executed by our Network Operations Centre (NOC) due to a direct breach of this AUP does not constitute a network outage and explicitly invalidates any rolling service credit claims under the Baltic SLA framework.
1. Core Security & Network Integrity Protection
Corporate clients are contractually responsible for securing their internal local area networks (LANs), local servers, and edge router configurations. The network transit must not be utilised for activities that degrade infrastructure performance. Prohibited actions include, but are not limited to:
- Malicious Outbound Traffic: The intentional or negligent hosting of scripts used for Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) deployments, network port scanning, brute-force attacks, or vulnerability exploitation loops.
- IP Reputation Endangerment: Operating open mail relays or compromised database environments that blast unsolicited bulk communications (Spam), resulting in the global blacklisting of Baltic-allocated IP subnets.
- Resource Flooding: Generating anomalous, unstructured packet volumes or malicious connection tables designed to exhaust the hardware memory or backplane capacity of local exchange switches or wireless distribution sectors.
2. Commercial Scope & Reselling Restrictions
Unless explicitly authorised by a dedicated Wholesale Carrier Interconnect Schedule signed directly by an Executive Director of Baltic Broadband, all enterprise circuits are delivered exclusively for the internal operational footprint of the Customer.
- Unauthorised Multi-Tenant Distribution: Commercial landlords, managed office operators, or corporate tenants are strictly prohibited from reselling, sub-letting, or extending transit paths to un-affiliated third-party business entities across the premises without an approved Baltic Multi-Tenant Multi-VRF configuration.
- Bandwidth Arbitrage: The utilisation of dedicated internet circuits to establish unauthorised public transit points, open proxy nodes, or distributed scraping infrastructure that deliberately exploits contention-free network delivery architecture.
3. NOC Rights & Enforcement Protocols
To defend the systemic security of our data paths, Baltic Broadband Limited enforces a strict, fast-acting validation framework. When our automated monitoring telemetry flags anomalous behavior or a confirmed AUP violation, our NOC reserves the absolute right to execute the following sequential or immediate actions, completely at our sole discretion:
- Traffic Null-Routing & Mitigation: Dynamically filtering affected IP addresses or null-routing specific traffic paths to isolate malicious packet spikes while attempting to preserve baseline connectivity.
- Emergency Circuit Isolation: Safely disabling the primary optical or wireless port layout if customer-side infrastructure is actively compromising a local multi-tenant distribution exchange node. Notice will be issued simultaneously alongside engineering logs.
- Service Restriction & Termination: Issuing a formal compliance rectification notice detailing the hardware breach, followed by long-term contract suspension or complete contract termination if systemic vulnerabilities remain unaddressed by the client.
4. Statutory Cooperation & Law Enforcement
Nothing within this framework limits our statutory obligations under the laws of England and Wales. Baltic Broadband Limited cooperates fully with the Investigatory Powers Tribunal, UK law enforcement agencies, and cyber-compliance authorities. We reserve the absolute right to disclose routing metadata, log metrics, or client identification parameters upon the validation of a lawful warrant or security disclosure mandate.
